The other day, our professor shared a story about a group of students who went on a quest to find the meaning for "Integral Health" in Mexico. After much studying and research they stopped at a local market. While shopping a student came across a loaf of bread and noticed that the package said, "pan integral". Not sure about what it meant she went to her instructor for guidance. The instructor informed her that it translated to "whole wheat bread". He continued by informing her that it was an integral representation of the "whole" wheat and all of the wheat was used to make or integrated to make wheat bread.
He continues by saying, "The whole person comes together. Nothing being taken apart, but instead all is valued for healing... for growth... mind, body, and spirit, and maintaing balance.
The student pauses and her face glows with delight. Ah! I get it! I now know the meaning of "integral health".
