I suppose that many answers can exist to this question, especially with how one perceives the question. During my pondering of this questions I began to do some explorations of "unncessary" suffering. I immediately thought about natural disasters.
A natural disaster, such as, tornadoes, hurricanes, etc.
that occur and cause suffering can be perceived as an “unnecessary suffering”.
Yet, it is Mother Nature that chooses when it’s “necessary” for the earth to be
cleansed and in some form rebooted or recharged. While the “unnecessary” occurrence
brings forth much agony it also allows for new beginnings, such as, building of
a better school, new home, and a different perspective in life.
What about a person who gets into a car accident on his way home from work? One survives and the other person dies during the crash
but his organ (liver) saves the life of a four year old boy. The accident is a
reflection of an “unnecessary” accident that causes much suffering for many
people, yet aids in the life of another, so is it necessary?
This brings me back to the original question, “unnecessary”
suffering, is there suffering that is necessary? Is suffering necessary for
someone’s success? Is “unnecessary” suffering a stepping stone for a person to
become a better individual or better in life?
