The Crime of Century

This week’s class enabled us to focus on the preparations necessary for integral health.  We were able to do some personal reflections on our physical, psychological, and spiritual well being and decipher and determine some useful tools and anecdotes to increase our well being.  I also had the pleasure to participate in a visualization relaxation exercise (rainbow) that allowed my body to flow and relax while being aware of my body’s reactions.

Please take a look at my reflections and exercise experience and feel free to comment.

Based on your reflections, and on a scale of 1 to 10 (ten being optimal wellbeing), where do you rate your A-physical wellbeing, B-spiritual well-being, C-psychological well-being? Why? Based on my reflections, I was able to distinguish and identify areas of my body, mind, and spirit. I feel my physical wellness is good but could use more improvement.  I rate my physical wellness, 6. Psychologically I give myself an 8. By nature I think I am a calm person who always strives to do good towards others.  I believe this helps in keeping me rounded and at peace. I focus on the positive things in life and not ponder on the negative. I do not allow myself to drown into negativity or fall into temptation. I stay true to myself and appreciate the person that I am. Spiritually I gave myself a 7. I feel my spirit is healthy and full of grace, though I believe there is always room for prayer, growth, and wholeness.

Develop a goal for yourself in each area (physical, spiritual, psychological).

Physical- I need to continue to work on reaching my goal weight. I need to continue to focus on ingesting a diet high in protein and vegetables and abstain from consuming white flour, sugar, or any type of foods containing pesticides or preservatives. Also, I need to increase the level of physical activity. My goal is to maintain a healthier diet.

Psychological- Focusing a bit more on myself and making time for me would aid in my psychological wellness.  A goal that I am going to strive for is to take time out of my schedule to spend with my friends and husband.

Spiritual- My goal is to sign up for a church retreat or possible a bible study class.

What activities or exercise can you implement in your life to assist in moving toward each goal?

I can implement 60minutes of cardio five times a week to increase my physical wellness, as well, as well as alternating spinning and swimming. Psychologically, I can implement a different yoga class or meditation retreat to enhance my psychological well being.  My spiritual wellness can move towards my goal by practicing and teaching my faith towards other, perhaps I can assist in religious education.

The Crime of the Century, describe your experience. (What it beneficial? Frustrating? etc.)

My experience from the relaxation was both beneficial and a bit frustrating.  I enjoyed listening to the narrator and thought his voice was soothing. I enjoyed the rainbow visualization techniques as it enabled me to relax while paying attention to my body’s reactions.  What I found frustrating was able to maintain focused and not let my outter and inner distractions interfere with the well being of the exercise.
